Things We Do

Limited Edition Prints:

Black and White Photography is not all that Bob does. He is attempting to perfect the Colour Management process in shooting watercolour and monotype prints.

The process is strobe lighting using FUJICHROME PROVIA 100F medium and large format that is processed in a professional laboratory. The slides are scanned into the computer. Two colour software packages Photoshop Elements 2 and Paint Shot Pro 8.01 are used to obtain the final colours, contrast, brightness, size and density.

Printing, is done on a wide format printer using Textured Fine Art Paper or Brilliant White Smooth Art Paper to create limited edition prints. Selected works are then mounted and framed to be sent out to local shows or hung in our studio. Some of these prints are then posted on the web site.

Bob’s Black and White Photography follows the same process except after he prints the 8x10 prints in the dark room, he then selects the negatives or photograph to be scanned and printed.

We are always looking to trade notes with other Photographers or Artists.

Good Shooting

Monotype Prints are a result of a process which consists of applying ink / paint to a plate (Plexiglas, metal, glass or wood) in an artistic manner and then applying prepared watermedia paper and running it through a mechanically driven or hand press.

What make’s this artistic method so exciting and interesting is the results. What the final product or print comes out as is often wonderful and rarely as planned or expected. The combinations of drawing, texturing, ink and use of materials such as stencils and netting always results in unexpected results. The pressure applied by the mechanical etching press or hand baren is an additional element influencing the final print.

I have found that the monotype construction and printing process most fulfilling when done in a group. The sharing of the first print revealed and resulting critiques help tremendously in artistic growth.

In my estimation the monotype printing process forces the participants to study and use design process at all times. Each experience is usually based on personal creative abstract ideas. When you have the opportunities indulge in this artistic endeavour.

Happy Printing
